Dorr Earth Day 2024
This year Dorr Township Park celebrated Earth Day on April 13th (a week earlier), by planting approximately 90 trees in North Dorr Park. The task was performed by Great Lakes Disc, Russ Vos Tree Farms, the Park Commissions, and a few other local volunteers. The trees were planted in a cool but clear sky Saturday morning. Some volunteers were motivated by donuts and water provided by one of the Park Commission leaders, Linda Stephens.
It was another successful Earth Day celebration.
Dorr Business Association Annual Ester Egg Hunt 2024:
The Dorr Business Association hosted their annual Ester Egg Hunt on April 7th, (postpone from March 30th due to the weather), from 11am to noon. This is the third year that the DBA hosted the children’s event at Dorr North Park.
Children of all ages were welcome to collect the colorful eggs filled with candy. Afterwards families took part in free raffles donated by the DBA.
This upcoming Saturday, the DBA (Dorr Business Association) will host our annual Christmas In The Park at our North Dorr Park.
Remember the old dirt parking lot?
Have you seen the new parking lot yet? The Parks Commission is so excited to offer 100 new spaces to include 4 handicap accessible spots. Thank you to Oetman Excavation for taking on the project and Wightman Engineering for the plans.
Your Parks Commission currently has a few more major projects that we'd like to introduce. Our 5-Year plan includes a mile path, full size basketball court (with room for growth), volleyball court, and moving the playground closer to the pavilion.
At this current time we have an open seat on the commission. Consider joining us as we serve our community together. 2024 will also be a year of changes, along with the presidential election, all Park Commission seats will be up for election. There is a call for public duty that we have upon us, serving our community is something we take pride in. Consider joining us to keep the diversity alive.
